Join us at Summer Lake Hot Springs for a nourishing Summer Solstice weekend retreat hosted by Rhythm of the Wheel and Soma Wellness Services, where sacred circle, yoga, journaling, folk crafting, movement, and mineral soaking invite you to celebrate the beginning of summer in intentional community.
We come together to honor the season of fullness, light, and renewal in a setting shaped by mineral waters, open sky, and the quiet beauty of the high desert.
Cabins, campsites, and RV spaces are available, allowing each guest to choose the retreat experience that best supports their comfort and connection to the land.
All meals are included, thoughtfully prepared, with gluten-free and dairy-free dietary needs accommodated with advance notice.
What to Expect:
The Intention
At the height of the sun’s strength, when daylight lingers and the earth stands in abundance, we gather in sacred circle to mark this turning of the wheel through ceremony, reflection, and meaningful connection. Throughout the weekend, our time together will include sacred circle gatherings, intentional movement, and quiet moments for restoration– all woven with the spirit of midsummer.
Themes of solar energy, gratitude, embodiment, and feminine wisdom will move through our circles, offering space to reflect on what is ripening in your life, what is asking to be honored, and what may be ready to expand under the season’s light.
There will also be time to soak in the geothermal waters, walk the land, rest beneath the wide desert sky, or simply listen inwardly in the stillness that this place naturally invites.
For our folk craft we’ve planned a paper mâché mask workshop that is a playful, hands-on experience where participants learn simple layering and sculpting techniques to create a unique solar-inspired mask that reflects the radiance, symbolism, and energy of the summer solstice
Meet us in the desert to experience the magic that happens when women gather with intention. Through inspired readings from the book Women Who Run with the Wolves and guided journaling, we will tap into the wild power of our inner instinctual nature.
Embrace the ancient tradition of song circles, absorb the energy of the medicine drum, or drop into the healing vibration of crystal bowls during our intentionally curated offerings.

Explore the serene expanse of the Oregon Outback. Soak up the wild energy of Summer Lake with natural mineral pools, big sky views and spectacular star gazing.

Our time together will include sacred circle gatherings, gentle yoga, guided journaling, folk crafting, intentional movement, and quiet moments for restoration.

Savor chef-catered meals every day, cooked with love and utilizing local, organic ingredients. Gluten-free and dairy-free dietary needs accommodated with advance notice.

Samantha Freda is someone who walks many paths— chef, yoga teacher, retreat facilitator and writer amongst them. Sam grew up in the kitchens of her Sicilian great-grandmothers, worked every summer in fine dining and studied creative writing in college.
After years of traveling Europe and living abroad she returned to the U.S. and opened her own restaurant— a health food bistro called Soma Cafe that served as a special community gathering place.
Since then Soma has relocated to Central Oregon and grown into a wellness company that offers retreats, chef services, farm to table dinners, private yoga, journaling circles and more.
Sam loves to weave magic and mindfulness into her menus; in the kitchen you will often find her singing blessings or speaking positive affirmations into the food she prepares with love and intention.

As we gather in celebration, reflection, and community, we pause to honor the original stewards of this land—the Northern Paiute peoples. We acknowledge that our celebration takes place upon territory that was cared for, respected, and loved by these tribes for countless generations.
With gratitude, we recognize their spiritual relationship with this land—its rivers, forests, and high desert—and the wisdom carried across centuries by Indigenous communities. We remember that through treaty, this land was ceded but never surrendered in spirit, and we affirm the living presence of their descendants among us.
